IX How to find Analyst Reports for a Company and Industry

This search describes how to find full-text analyst reports in Investext®, File 545. The Dialog Corporation sells analyst reports by the page, so you get only what you need. Each page is a full record. Type HELP RATEs 545 to see the cost of format 9. Market research comes in many packages, and some of the information that is hardest to glean by searching across full reports is easiest to find through other avenues. Savvy, smart searchers can often locate statistical data, such as market share, projected growth, number of subscribers, or revenue amounts generated, more efficiently in industry trade journals, newsletters, or even financial analyst. But the real strength of searching these is tapping into the rich aggregation of secondary sources which cull key data from the market research reports: Files: 9, 16, 148, 516, 545 e t c

XII   How to use Target Command / Search Samples/

The TARGET command allows you to search the DIALOG system without knowing a command language or using Boolean operators. TARGET is a search method that uses relevance ranking to automatically evaluate your search terms to select the most relevant records, especially in full-text databases.

The current option (current year plus one) is automatically active after entering TARGET After processing your search, TARGET creates a set of  the most relevant  50 records that you can TYPE or PRINT, or use to continue searching. Command mode TARGET will also process your search using CURRENT unless you specify a publication year, a range of years, or ALL in your command line, e.g.,

TARGET GUN (CONTROL BAN LAWS)/1995 ; TARGET *EARTHQUAKE? *RISK?/ALL-- Note that the ALL option indicates that the search strategy will be searched through the entire database. The ALL option is available only in command mode.
